The world of interior design is ever-changing. As we step into the coming year, design trends are shifting towards a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal.
We've tapped into the mind of our interior stylist, Adrika, to bring you a sneak peek into what the future holds for interior spaces.
For Adrika, no two homes are ever the same. With clients’ narratives always at the forefront, it’s her passion to help bring spaces to life! With a wealth of design knowledge built up over the last 8 years in the Interior Design industry, Adrika has styled thousands of homes - between Australia and Singapore!
“Our homes have had to play many roles over the last few years and this remains the case moving into 2024,” says Adrika. “With this, we see a rise in the modularity of furniture, especially sofas.”
Imagine a modular sofa that can be easily rearranged to accommodate a cozy family movie night; or dining tables that can transform from compact workspaces to spacious dining areas.

The beauty of modularity lies in its ability to cater to the ever-changing demands of our lifestyles. This also means that our furniture can easily travel with us into future homes - no matter the size.
“2024 sees a resurgence of timeless sophistication with the integration of stone table tops,” says Adrika. These pieces not only showcase the natural beauty of stone but also bring a touch of luxury and durability to contemporary living spaces.
“Expect to see a mix of more neutral stones like Carrara and Travertine, as well as a move towards bolder, darker, and deeper stones like Toronto and Rosso marbles.” Adrika goes on to mention that the unique patterns of each of these stones give each piece a sense of individuality, creating a one-of-a-kind space.
The Kelsey Marble Dining Table Set features Carrara marble, adding to the luxurious vibe.
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, stone dining and coffee tables are prized for their durability and longevity. These tables withstand the test of time, resisting scratches, heat, and wear.

This durability makes them not only a stylish choice but also a practical investment for those seeking furniture that can endure the rigors of daily use while maintaining its exquisite appearance.
The inviting and calming feeling that curves create in our spaces isn’t going anywhere in 2024. Curved sofas and chairs with sinuous lines not only offer a more comfortable seating experience but also introduce an element of elegance.

Circular or oval coffee tables and dining tables bring a convivial atmosphere to your home, encouraging a sense of togetherness.

Additionally, the resurgence of curved headboards and bedside tables in bedrooms adds a touch of romance and softness.
The Crescent Bed Set features softly curved edges for a modern touch.
“In particular, we are seeing a rise in the barrelled backs of dining chairs and armchairs that create a cozy enveloping feel.”
Beyond furniture, architectural elements are embracing curves as well. From arched doorways to rounded window frames, the infusion of curves adds a sense of playfulness and breaks away from the monotony of straight lines.
Ceiling designs are adopting curves, creating visually striking spaces that draw the eye upward. The result is an environment that feels dynamic, balanced, and aesthetically pleasing.
“We have seen a move towards more organic shapes in 2023 and this will continue to gain momentum in 2024.”
You can expect to see organic shapes in your dining tables, coffee tables, and wall hangings like mirrors. These more free-form shapes bring with them a feeling of calm and comfort, and their asymmetrical forms and irregular patterns also bring with them a connection to nature.
The Odette Performance Bouclé Sofa creates a statement in your living room with its asymmetrical curved back.
Adrika also mentions that the absence of sharp angles promotes natural circulation, making rooms feel more open and interconnected. This design strategy is particularly beneficial in smaller spaces, where the use of organic shapes can visually expand the perceived size of the area.
“We’re starting to see a move towards not taking our furniture so seriously and letting ourselves have a bit of fun in the home.”
Expect to see tables with an exaggerated sense of proportion and form, lamps with sculptural pillars, and even bold patterns like stripes with polka dots.

The use of color also becomes a powerful tool when it comes to playful designs, allowing homeowners to express personality and create an uplifting atmosphere. “Imagine a living room with a vibrant, multicolored sofa, or a kitchen adorned with mismatched chairs – these design choices are a celebration of individuality and joy.”
“While more minimalist spaces will always have a place in the interior landscape, in 2024, we are seeing a trend towards embracing a more maximalist design where the ‘more is more’ aesthetic rings true.”
In tandem with organic shapes and playful designs, the self-expression and freedom that maximalism brings to a home are now seeing a rise. Think mixing materials, bold colors, and pattern on pattern.

But, you have to be careful when it comes to designing maximalist spaces as it can look cluttered very easily. Adrika shares a tip, “Try creating a common thread through the use of repetitive colors or material (two to three items) in one space.”
Storage never goes out of fashion and in 2024, we can expect to see more integrated storage solutions that seamlessly fit into our furniture pieces.
Built-in shelving units, sofas with concealed storage, coffee tables that transform into storage units, and beds with integrated pull-out drawers are just a few examples of how furniture is becoming smarter and more versatile.

“The emphasis is on creating a visually uncluttered and pleasing environment,” says Adrika.
As we venture into 2024, the world of interior design is poised for exciting transformations. From modular furniture to playful designs, homes are becoming more than just spaces; they are reflections of our personalities and aspirations. Stay ahead of the curve by incorporating these up and coming trends into your home!
